Mission Statement: Help others to learn to play the violin, viola, or cello while maintaing a caring and understanding environment. I also will help others to remember that we play the violin, viola or cello.
I expect the best from my students. I also understand that this is not the only thing they have going on in thier lives. We'll move at the student's speed.
I try to keep the studio stress free. The only way for me to help you is if you make mistakes and/or ask questions. It helps me to find what I may not have explained well or something that the student finds particularly difficult.
I believe that every student should understand how to read music. The student will be expected at some point to learn scales and do some technical studies along with regular music.
If the student is taking a strings or orchestra class, I will help them with their music there also unless it's too easy for the student.
I encourage the students to do recitals, as well as trying for All county, Tri-county and All State Orchestra, if eligible. I will also encourage auditioning for any other outlet for performance as well as recital(s).
I have been teaching privately since 1991.
I have a degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland in Music Performance (violin).
I also have a master's in Leadership in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
I have taught in Charles County Public Schools and St. Mary's County Public Schools.
I really do enjoy teaching. It's always very exciting for me to see a student catch on to a new skill.
I am a member of the American String Teacher's Association
National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association) and the Music Teachers National Association (Music Teachers Association of Charles and St. Mary's County)
